Tacitous enables organisations and professional communities to capture, share and retain critical knowledge without replacing their existing enterprise systems or committing to a new AI ecosystem.
Many Knowledge Management programmes stall before they start. The plan assumes a new platform for everything, a migration of every document and a commitment to a new technology stack, often with an AI strategy attached. That is a big decision, and while it is being made, experienced people keep retiring and lessons keep being lost.
Tacitous takes a different approach. Start with one community. Address a specific knowledge challenge. Demonstrate value. Expand when the need arises.
What is it?
Tacitous Next is a Knowledge & Expertise Hub. It sits alongside the systems your organisation already uses and adds what they usually lack: who knows what, what has been learned, and which knowledge has been reviewed and can be trusted.
It is not a replacement for your document management, intranet or collaboration tools. Documents can stay where they are. Tacitous connects people, expertise categories, Lessons Learned, Best Practices and Communities of Practice around them.
Why it avoids disruption
People sign in with the accounts they already have. Tacitous Next supports Microsoft and Google sign-in, or an emailed sign-in link, so there are no new passwords to roll out.
Approved knowledge can reach your existing systems. A secure, read-only Knowledge API lets your own systems, such as an intranet, show approved Lessons Learned and expertise categories. We are also piloting a one-way connector that publishes approved Lessons Learned and Best Practices into a SharePoint Online list.
Your knowledge stays yours. Expertise categories can be exported in open standard formats (RDF N-Triples, Turtle and JSON-LD), and organisations can request a structured Data / Exit Package of their knowledge as JSON and CSV.
No new AI ecosystem required. Tacitous Next is built on structured, reviewed knowledge and the people behind it. When a discussion is promoted to a Learning, the draft is assembled from the contributions people choose, not generated by AI. That gives you a trusted knowledge foundation that is ready for whichever AI approach your organisation chooses later, without forcing that choice now.
Start small, prove value, then grow
Start with one community. Choose a group where knowledge matters and is at risk: a project team, a technical discipline, a programme or a professional network.
Address a specific knowledge challenge. That might be retaining the experience of people approaching retirement with Knowledge Retention and Transfer, capturing lessons from completed projects, or helping members find the right expert. Define the expertise categories that matter and name Designated Experts for each one.
Demonstrate value. Within one community you can see questions answered by the right people, lessons captured and reused, and members engaging through discussions, polls and quizzes. People can even record when they applied a Learning and the benefit it brought.
Expand when the need arises. Add communities, expertise categories and integrations at your own pace, guided by our proven KM Blueprint. Nothing in the first step locks you into a larger programme.
